Living in Guildford
Guildford is a large town in the South East of England and is located 30 miles from London. The town has excellent transport links and is situated between 2 major London airports, Heathrow and Gatwick. There is a 35 minute fast train service from Guildford station to London Waterloo.
Guildford is a successful commercial hub and a popular shopping desination with an attractive High Street paved with granite setts (cobbles) and a Norman castle built shortly after the 1066 invasion of England by William the Conqueror. There are many restaurants and pubs in the town which also has a thriving cultural, sporting and social scene with a theatre, cinema, sports and leisure complexes, and an outdoor swimming pool.
The area surrounding Guildford is known as the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty that provides opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling.
